Shivamogga, Jan 24: Speaker of Karnataka legislative assembly, Kagodu Thimmappa has said that speaker’s role should not be confined to the four walls of the assembly hall.
Thimmappa was speaking in a taluk level convention of the retired employees in Sagar on Friday.
Thimmappa said that no one should define rules as to how a speaker should work.
“I need not learn from anybody on the speaker’s style of functioning. Had I been only an MLA, my style of functioning in assembly would have been different” Thimmappa added.
Thimmappa also said that as a people’s representative, he felt sad to realize that he could not help the people when they approached him for help as he was the speaker.
Kagodu Thimmappa the outspoken speaker has been vocal in his opinions of late. He even went to the extent of criticizing the present Congress government. Scores of fellow Congressmen had attacked him in turn for his open views. But veteran politician for years has not changed his tone.
