Bengaluru, Jan 13: In connection with the rape case filed against Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji of Hosanagar Ramachandrapur Math by Premalata Shastri, Rishi Pal, national general secretary of Seva Bharati, an arm of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, was questioned by the personnel of criminal investigation department (CID) on Monday January 12. CID sources claimed that the statements recorded by Rishi Pal are likely to substantiate claims made by Premalata in her complaint.
Rishi Pal, who came to the city from New Delhi for this specific purpose, answered questions posed to him for over three hours, before flying back to New Delhi by 8 pm flight. He had been summoned by the CID as Premalata had given his name as a witness to her engagements in certain centres in North India.
Premalata had claimed that she was raped by Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji at Haridwar and Jodhpur too. The entourage of the Math had travelled there through New Delhi, and Rishi Pal, besides being personally aware about this travel, also knew several things about the Swamiji, it is said. When a CID team gathered information from Rishi Pal, another team worked to find out the location of the cell phones on the basis of information provided by Premalata in her presence, and matching them with the use of scientific instruments. The conversations between Premalata with the Swamiji, and the towers used by their respective cell phones were also matched, it is reported.
The CID personnel also visited the house of an Ayurveda practitioner from the city, who is said to be close to Math, and verified the details of conversations he had with the Swamiji. CID sources added that Premalata fully cooperated with the investigation.
