Bengaluru, Dec 25: The role of the criminal investigation department (CID) in the case pertaining to rape allegations levelled against Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji of Ramachandrapur Math is already under the clouds. The CID police seemed to lend some credence to this suspicion, by seeking a week's time to file certified copy of the forensic science laboratory(FSL) report on tests conducted on the Swamiji.
The 15th assistant chief metropolitan magistrate's court, which is hearing the case, had ordered the CID police to file certified copy of the FSL report in a sealed envelope. This was done after the advocate for the Swamiji expressed doubts about the FSL report being tampered with if it remains with CID for long, and requested the court to get the same. The department was expected to comply with the order on Wednesday. Instead, the department filed a memo, seeking a week's time to comply with the court's directives.
The devotees of the Swamiji have pointed out that this report is already in the possession of CID, and during arguments, some contents of the report had been revealed by the department's advocate. The devotees therefore, are asking why does the department need time to file a report that is already in their hands. They suspect foul play on the department's part.
