Belagavi, Dec 16: N D Shivakumar, assistant editor of Times of India, who had been deputed to Belagavi to report proceedings at the assembly and council sessions there, breathed his last on Monday December 15 morning due to cardiac arrest.
Shivakumar, 39, is survived by wife, a 30-month-old daughter, and three sisters.
On his arrival here, Shivakumar had rented a room at Hotel Srinivas Residency, Khade Bazaar here. He had covered the proceedings at the sessions from December 9 to 12. On Sunday evening, after feeling uneasy, he had approached doctor and got medicines. On Monday morning, his health deterioratedl all of a sudden. His friends took him to KLE Hospital here, where ECG was conducted on him. However, by then he had lost his life.
Scores of people including chief minister, Siddaramaiah, former chief ministers, H D Kumaraswamy and Jagadish Shettar, different ministers, legislators, and media persons visited the hospital and paid their last respects to the departed soul. His body was then dispatched to his native place, Nandihalli in Koratagere taluk in Tumkur district by ambulance.
