Bengaluru, Dec 8: President Pranab Mukherjee will launch Karnataka Mobile-One, the State government’s ambitious mobile governance project of providing a host of government and private services on the mobile phone, in Bengaluru on Monday, December 8.
Projected as the first of its kind initiative in India, anyone with a mobile connectivity phone can avail host of services by just dialling the number 161.
President Mukherjee is scheduled to arrive for the launch, to be held at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) at 3 pm.
The services, which will be available in the first phase, will include electricity, water, BSNL telephone bill payment, paying traffic fines, information services, and updates in status of applications, traffic alerts, and query on bus timings among others.
A smart phone is not necessarily required to access the services. In all, more than 4,000 government and private services will be available.
The service will include around 632 services from various government departments and around 3500 services related to different businesses which are beneficial to the general public. The government services include but not limited to bill payments, applications for various services, complaints on necessary issues etc.
If it is an ordinary mobile phone, one needs to dial 161. If it is a smart phone, one needs to dial 1800425425425 and get registered following the instructions. For Android and I- phone users, different easy to use procedures are to be followed.
