Mangaluru, Dec 4: The National Service Scheme (NSS) of Milagres College, Mangaluru, held the closing ceremony function of its annual special camp at Koraga Samudaya Bhavan, Kinnigoli on November 21.
The President of Alva’s Group of Colleges, Moodabidri Dr M Mohan Alva delivered the speech at the closing ceremony. Dr Alva asked the students not to get addicted to the so called modern technological inventions and not to loose their precious time and peace of mind. He shared his own experience in the field of education and art. He also insisted the students to build their career by education and art.
Other dignitary, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishad, HariKrishna Punarooru called the students to start the good work in their home itself and make proud the names of their college, home, society and the country.
The Principal of Milagres College, Fr Francis Xavier Gomes presided over the function. He praised the contribution of Dr Alva in field of education and art. He told the students to develop their future on academic and cultural base.
Correspondent of D.K Zilla Panchayat higher primary school, Narayana Poojar, the headmistress of the school Rita D’sa and Sundar, the member of Koraga community hall were also present on the stage.
Dr Alva presented the certificates to the students who had come out as best camper, best worker and best cultural during the seven days of NSS programme.
The Principal of Milagres College, Fr. Francis Xavier Gomes presented the mementos as a token of appreciation to the people who helped for the success of the camp.
The NSS programme officer of Milagres College Dr. Mamatha N R welcomed the guests and also proposed vote of thanks. The assistant programme officer Nikhil Martis and the lecturer Lavita helped the concerned officers in the successful completion of the programme.
The weeklong camp was inaugurated by K. Abhayachandra Jain, Minister for sports and youth affairs in the presence of Fr Vincent F. Montherio, the priest of Mother of Kosesaav Church, Kinnigoli and P J Ahmed Madani, the Priest of Kilariya Jumma Masjid, Guthakaad, at Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat higher primary school, Guthakaad, Kinnigoli on November 15.
