Bhatkal, Nov 28: District-level floodlit Bhatkal Kabaddi League organized by Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation (BMYF) kicked off at Bhatkal on Thursday Novemeber 27.
Chairman of Karnataka Spice Board, Muzammil Kazia who is also the president of Majlis-e-Islah-wo Tanzeem, inaugurated Bhatkal Kabaddi League here at YMSA Ground, Nawayath Colony, Bhatkal.
Addressing the gathering, Muzzamil said, "Sports unites people, sports has the power to unite people in a way that little else can, it can create hope where once there was only despair, it break down racial barriers."
BMYF geneal secreatery Maulana Irfan Nadvi in his welcome speech said, "Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation is trying its best to maintain peace and harmony by bringing youths of differents communities on the same platform. BMYF is working hard in this regard at the district level."
BMYF president Imtiyaz Udyavar presided over the function. The programme began with the recitation of the Quran by Hafiz Ikrash Akrami. SahilOnline Kannada editor Raza Manvi compered the programme.
Famous Nawayathi poet Syed Samiullah Barmawar presented the federation song.
Majlis-e-Islah-wo Tanzeem general secrectry Moheddin Altaf Kharoori, ex BMYF general secreatary Maulana Abdul Raqeeb M.J , BMYF president Imtiyaz Udayvar, vice-president Moulvi Irshad Naite Nadvi, general secratery Moulvi Azizur Rahman Nadvi, sports secretary Naseef Khalifa and all the team owners were present on stage.

There are ten franchises in the League. The teams are Boom Boom Silver, Knight Riders, Maulaya, Bhatkal Hunters, Nawayath Riders, Fish India, INN Bulls, SIM, Saidani's, and Image.
The ten Bhatkal-based teams and icon players are N Raiders (Uday Moger Dasa), Inn Bulls (Manoj Kumar Naik), Boom Boom Silver (Naufil Mohtesham), SIM (Hammad Siddiqua), Bhatkal Hunters (Afaf Gawai), Moulya(Shashidar Naik), Fish India (Anup Naik Ankola), Saidani's (Mustaqeem Meera Kumshe), Knight Riders (Mudassir Mubarak) and Image (Wasif Zabbar Ali) .
The games will take place between December 27, 28,29, and 30. Matches will be played as per the current Pro Kabaddi rules. All the league matches will be played on a specially developed mat.
