Bengaluru, Nov 24: Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has taken strong exception to the plans of the principal opposition party BJP's to cause disturbance during the winter session of state legislature to be held in Belgaum from December 9.

“It is the duty of all of us to utilise every minute of time during the 10-day session for meaningful, serious debate on burning issues concerning the people of northern Karnataka,” he said asking the BJP leaders not to waste the precious time of legislature and instead concentrate its energies in attacking the State Government.

The legislature session should not fall victim for political designs of any political party. I not sure about BJP's preparations for serious participation in the session, Kumaraswamy said on Monday.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, the JD(S) leader expressed concern over the demands for a separate northern Karnataka state and said the session should send a strong message for the people of northern Karnataka that the entire political leadership is committed for their welfare and development.

Referring to BJP's plans to stage a massive protest opposite Suvarna Vidhana Soudha on the first day of the session with demand for immediate payment of dues by sugar factories for cane growers, Kumaraswamy said BJP should not use the issue to stall the proceedings of the session.

He appealed to BJP to give up any plans to disrupt the proceedings and ensure that every minute of the session is used for debating the problems of the region

“We are ready to cooperate if a combined strategy is adopted to corner the State Government,” he said making it clear that JD(S) has no intention to disrupt the legislature session.
