Kuwait: Goan  Cultural  and  Food  Festival on Nov 24

Kuwait, Nov 12: The much-awaited "Goan Cultural & Food Festival" on Friday, 24th November 2006 at the spacious A/C Auditorium at the Al-Amal Indian School  – Salmiya, Kuwait from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m is organized by the Goan Cultural Centre-Kuwait. The highlights of the event is a 22 member Cultural Troupe Par Excellence and current State Award Winners for Folk Song & Folk Dance, deputed by the Directorate of Art & Culture-Government of Goa. The troupe “Kepemchim Kirnnam” directed by Elvis Goes has bagged several awards including the National Award in the folk song category for the best original composition “Kalliz Pinzta” in 2003, and comprises of renowned writers, composers, teachers and youth having perfect musical background.

The visiting troupe has performed all over India and overseas at important cultural events including Goa Day Celebrations at India International Trade Fair - New Delhi (2003), Paramparya Festival at Quilon-Kerala (2003), All Indian Konkani Sammelan at Calicut-Kerela (2004), Mando Utsov at Mangalore (2003), Inauguration of the Konkani Heritage Centre in Mangalore (2001), and have performed at All India Konkani Sangeet Samelan, the Annual National Level Folk Festivals organized at Udaipur and at Panjim (Goa) and the 30th anniversary independence celebrations of the Republic of Seychelles, and have toured Vientianne –Laos, and Phnom Phenn-Cambodia under the aegis of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) . A full day programme  awaits for the whole family with traditional Goan funfare. 

Live music by Kuwait’s top bands, Quality presentations – humourous Konkani comedy skit “Fest Vaddeachem Kappod Baddeachem” by well-known award-winning writer-director Ignatius de Xelvon with ‘selected artistes/singers’ and music by Succoro D’Mello, stand-up mimicry by Goa’s one and only ‘Shiek Amir’ (flown in from Goa), songs by senior Tiatrists and English/Hindi choreographed displays - by prominent young talents among the community will be the added features. Games Stalls, Food Stalls and Lots of children activities and competitions.  An open invitation for all Goans/Indians and Goan organizations to participate in the event: cultural-culinary-games-on the spot competitions-contests for all ages.  Children below 5 years admission free.
