Bengaluru, Nov 19: Kimmane Ratnakar, the primary and secondary education minister has justified the truth test he took at a temple, following the mysterious death of Nanditha, a 14 year old high school student from Thirthahalli, his home constituency.
“Even the constitution allows swearing in the name of God,” Kimmane Ratnakar said.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru Ratnakar said that he was hurt by the BJP’s accusation that he was trying to protect the culprits responsible for the girl’s death.
“I believe in God and hence I decided to take the truth test. I do not see anything wrong in that. As per the Constitution of India, even the President has to take oath in the name of God before discharging his duties,” he added.
Ratnakar also refuted the accusation that he had taken the test before God because he was superstitious.
Ratnakar said that BJP was trying to draw political mileage from the incident by giving it a ‘communal angle’.
Ratnakar had taken a truth test on November 6 at Rameshwara temple in Thirthahalli saying that he did nothing wrong in the girl’s death case. The truth test had attracted criticism from some quarters.
