Bengaluru, Nov 12: The winter session of the State Legislature will be held at Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi from December 9 to 20.
The State Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has decided to hold the 10-day session in the border town of Belgaum.
The Cabinet meeting also decided to hold a State Cabinet meeting in Kalaburagi on November 27.
Briefing reporters on the Cabinet decisions, Karnataka’s Law and Parliamentary Affairs minister T B Jayachandra said the Cabinet has deferred the discussion on the proposal of banning sale of tobacco chewing products.
“We have decided to wait till the verdict in Supreme Court which is hearing a petition in this regard,” Jayachandra said.
He reiterated the government's commitment for protection of the interests of areca and tobacco growers in the state.
The areca price has fallen about 30 per cent already in the light of rumours about impending ban on chewing tobacco products, he added.
