Nov 5: A top official of Sify.com on Saturday registered a complaint with the Marine Drive police against six employees of another website company, Yahoo India, for allegedly forging identity cards and taking photographs at Lakme Fashion Week in an unauthorised manner.

Sify.com is one of the eight "official sponsors" of the fashion event that aims to integrate the Indian and global fashion trends.

According to the complaint filed with the police by Sify.com's Creative head Hanumant Mane, six employees (photographers) — three men, three women — of Yahoo.com India had allegedly forged their identity cards in order to get entry at the fashion event and had later taken pictures illegally, according to the police.

On Thursday, however, the organisers detected their allegedly unauthorised actions and followed it up with registering a complaint with the police.

According to DCP (zone 1) Brijesh Singh, "the six were accosted by the event's organisers while they were taking pictures in an unauthorised manner. They were apparently doing it since two three days before they finally got caught. We are investigating the case."

The complaint mentions six names, including its Managing Director George Zacharias and Content Head Ajay Nambiar. The other four are Kavita Dare, Jahnavi Vohra, Niyati Shah and Pravin Shah, according to a station official.

When HT contacted Yahoo.com India's Managing Director, George Zacharias, who was in Chennai, he said, "this complaint is news to me. My official spokesperson will get in touch with you". The official spokesperson, Arati Vedanta, who as in Bangalore, said "we categorically deny the allegations. None of our employee was present at the fashion event. We always work in a legal manner."

The case has been registered under sections 465, 468, 471, 419, 506 of the Indian Penal code read with section 34.

The event began on October 31 and ended on Saturday.

Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) is a joint initiative between Lakme, the leading cosmetics brand and a pillar of the fashion industry in India, and IMG, the global leader in fashion weeks and event production.
