Goa forms committee to monitor Ebola

Panaji, Oct 24 (IANS): The Goa government has formed a committee to monitor the state's preparedness to keep the Ebola virus at bay, a statement said.

The committee comprises senior health, police, immigration officials of the state and will be chaired by the health secretary, it said.

The formation of the committee assumes significance especially because Goa's tourism season which sees over half a million foreign visitors every year has already begun.

While there is no case of Ebola reported yet in India, patients with Ebola have been identified and quarantined in Europe and the US in the recent past.
