Mangalore, Oct 3: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy organised a three day 'Konkani Natak Shibir' for the age group of 15 to 35 here on Thursday October 2 at Kalangan, Shakthinagar.
Vijayakumar Kodialbail, famous Tulu theatre director inaugurated the camp in a unique way by applying the make up to a Kalakul student. In his inaugural speech he said, "The president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Roy Castelino has done good work and has lifted the Konkani language high."
"Tulu theatre is becoming stronger but the problem is that the Tulu theatre does not organise camps like the way Konkani theatre does. The Konkani theatre has played a significant role in the Tulu theatre for bringing up. There are rich people who speak Tulu but some of them do not come forward to support us," he added.
Roy Castelino, president of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy (KKSA) said, "Our intention was to organise this camp is to attract the youth learn Konkani more."
Talking about the Modi's Clean India Campaign, Roy said, "Anybody can clean the government offices, but there should be a clean India campaign for corruption."
Eric Ozario, gurkar, Mandd Sobhann briefed about the KKSA president's duty. "The academy works only if the president works for it." Talking about the Tulu theatre, he said that the Tulu dramas were an inspiration for Konkani dramas. "Today's youth do not speak Konkani anywhere and this should not happen; they should respect Konkani."
KKSA's second edition monthly news magazine 'Konkani Siri Sampad' by Lawrence D'Souza, chief editor, was released by Eric Ozario on the occasion.
Roy Castelino welcomed the guests, Dr B Devadas Pai proposed the vote of thanks while Vittory Karkol compered the ceremony.
Arun Raj Rodrigues, Christopher D'Souza, Dr Chethan Nayak, J F D'Souza, John Permannur, Janardhan Pai, Dolla, Hemacharya, Devadas Pai Kochikar, Kamalaksha Shet, Shekar Gowda and others were also present on the occasion.
