Dharwad, Sep 19: In an incident that took place in the city, three people were trapped in a lift of a hotel for nearly seven hours on Thursday September 18.
Hardly did they imagine that they would be stranded there for so long. The incident took place in a lift at Kamat Yatri Nivas hotel here and ultimately it was confirmed that the lift got stuck due to a technical snag.
Indore based Adarsh Mohandas had come to the city to participate in a private function. Local residents Vijayalaxmi and Basavaraj visited his room on the second floor to take him from the hotel; it was during that short journey in the lift, the door suddenly got locked.
After the hotel people failed to rescue the trio, the police were informed. A rescue team comprising of police personnel, lift technicians and district administration was formed. When all the efforts including restarting the lift failed, they decided to cut open the topside of the lift cabin using gas cutters.
The standby doctors ensured that all was well. The ordeal which began at 11.30 am ended at 6.30 pm with the trio coming out from the lift unhurt.
Police have not yet registered any case.
