Mangalore, Sep 11: The inaugural function of ‘Bequest – 2014’, a national level inter-collegiate talent competition was held on Thursday September 11 at Besant Women’s College.
The students witnessed the key speaker Manohar Prasad, veteran journalist airing the importance of nurturing the potential talent and developing tastes for different aspects of life.
Encouraging the number of participants, Manohar Prasad said that celebrities like Nithin Mukesh and Raj Kumar are immortal only for their achievements in different fields. He asked the students to work on their potentials and develop a taste for other aspects of life.
The key speaker also spoke on the theme of the fest ‘Rasayana’, a cinematic journey. He said, "The film industry is the result of ‘persistence of vision’, where each frame and scenes are clubbed together to make a movie."
He also spoke about the lighting, costumes and said that they are the language of cinema.
Lauding the movies and the songs of yesteryears, he said the songs of most of the contemporary movies are meaningless.
Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy, president of women’s national education society also spoke on the occasion. Professor Pushpalatha B K, principal of Besant Women's College welcomed the guests.
The organizers said that there are 11 competitions and six colleges are taking part in the fest.
Dr Praveen K C proposed the vote of thanks.
Nikitha R Suvarna, B Mohan Nayak, professor P P Gomathi and students of various colleges were also present on the occasion.
