Udupi, Sep 10: The All College Students’ Association (ACSA), Udupi, organized a press meet on
Tuesday September 9 at Press Club, here.
Dheeraj Shetty, state functional secretary, ACSA, addressing media persons, demanded that the colleges return the original copies of all documents to the students. According to him, during admission, the colleges are asking for original copies of marks cards, caste certificates, and other such documents for completion of the university approval process. But most of the colleges keep these documents with themselves even after approval.
He further said, “Colleges should not keep these documents even after approval according to the UGC notification. A few colleges harass the poor students and pressurize them to pay the fees for the next course instead of returning the original documents. Such instances are occurring in cities like Bangalore and Mysore too. Thus, Mangalore University must take immediate action against such institutions indulging in malpractices.” Shetty added that if this practice continues, the student union will protest.
Moher Shetty, president, ACSA, Danush Shetty Brahmavar, joint secretary, and Bharath Raj S Nejar, vice-president, Post Graduate All College Students’ Association, were present.
