Mandya, Aug 23: Two close friends, who could not imagine getting separated after they get married, jumped together into a canal of Krishnaraja Sagar dam near Srirangapatna in the district and ended their lives together. The incident occurred at Majjigepura village in Srirangapatna taluk on Friday August 22.

The close friends who bid farewell to the world in unison have been identified as Pavitra (22) from Hombegowdanadoddi in Ramanagara taluk, and Jayanti (22) from Kachahalli in Channapatna taluk. These two friends had been classmates right from eighth standard to final year Bcom degree course.

In the recent past, family members of Jayanti had fixed her marriage. Although Jayanti had steadfastly opposed getting married before Pavitra, the family members had overlooked her objections. Her engagement was to be held within a few days. The friends who met, could not stand the agony of getting separated through marriage. They therefore, tied their hands with their veils together and jumped into the canal hand in hand, and drowned.

In a death note left behind, the friends said that they had often come across cases of committing of suicide by lovers. Informing the family members that they had decided to give up their lives together to make their friendship eternal, they requested the concerned to conduct their funerals together.

A case stands registered in K R police station Mysore relating to this incident. The policemen are investigating the case further.

All the people who call these girls as foolish have no right to say so. The might think they are of sound mind.. but they have no clue what and why the people decide to choose death.
Instead of commenting like the supreme being cant we just say "Rest in peace"

what is needed these days is counseling at all levels. Precious lives could thus be saved.

Again if there are two young people who feel that they can be life's partners together, it is advisable that the parents seek the advice of elders before objecting to the marriage.

Hope better discretion prevails at all levels and tragedies like these are averted.

Always meet the dawn with raise of prayers.Mental stability very much necessary in our daily life.In sorrows & troubles ending life is not the solution.Only the prayers can give us the strength and help us to take right decision. We are all innocent in our life some times we do not know what and when to decide. If we keep little trust in our creator.Such incidents can be avoided

My condolences to the grieved Parents.

The current generation lives in illusion, eat and drink in the world of Facebook and Whatsapp. So you can't convince them what is right and what is wrong.

8th Std to degree has value how about the life before that. How about mother and fathers love for them, doesn't have value.

All the religion accepts that suiciders will not get MUKTI/ SALVATION.

Kill the cause leading your to suicide rather than killing yourself.
