Mangalore, Aug 21: The Principal Civil Court Judge (senior division) remanded Samuel Aruldoss, exporter and managing director of M/s Beracha Exim Pvt Ltd, Bangalore and Ganesh Kumar, driver of the truck, in judicial custody for 14 days till September 3 for allgedly involving in an attempt to smuggle 17 tones of red sanders to Dubai from Mangalore Port.
Official sources said that after the Mangalore Directorate of Revenue Intelligence produced the accused in the Principal Civil Court (senior dvision), the judge granted them 14 days judicial custody.
Samuel Aruldoss and Ganesh Kumar were arrested by the DRI for attempting to smuggle red sandalwood (red sanders) 16.990 tons, worth Rs 6,79,60,000 from Mangalore Port to Dubai. According to official sources the DIR is also on the look out for the co-directors of the company.
