Beltangady, Aug 16: A recently-married young soldier hailing from Koyyur in the taluk, who was serving Central Reserve Police Force at Bangalore, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at Bangalore on Friday August 15.
The deceased serviceman has been identified as Venugopal (28), native of Adoor Peral in Koyyur. His body was found lying partly on the railway tracks near Yalahanka in Bangalore. Venugopal's motor bike was found parked a little distance away from where his body was found. A portion of his body was found crushed under the weight of passing trains.
The scene of his death has given rise to suspicion that he would have been led there by someone before pushing him in front of a passing train. There is also the possibility of the soldier himself committing suicide in this fashion. Postmortem was conducted, and Venugopal's wife and parents are hopeful that the report of the postmortem will throw definite light on the cause of his death.
Venugopal was the only son of Janardan Bhat and Gulabii couple from Adoor Peral in Koyyur. The couple runs a small hotel near Koyyur.
Venugopal was married just seven months back, and it is said there were no plausible reasons for him to end his life at such a young age. It is learnt that his body will be brought to his native place after the CRPF personnel extend guard of honour to his mortal remains at Bangalore on Saturday August 16.
