Karkala, Aug 14: In a fresh development in the false sexual harassment case against Rithesh Shetty, headmaster of Sooda government high school, the Karkala rural police on Thursday August 14 arrested Stephen (45), a resident of Shirva.

Stephen is believed to be the person who sent the fax to chief minister Siddaramaiah which had led to the detention of Rithesh Shetty.

Stephen, who recently returned from a foreign land, allegedly committed the act because of an old grudge he harboured against Rithesh Shetty.

In the wake of the state government taking tough measures against sexual harassment cases following the rape of a minor in a Bangalore school and the arrest of Hebri Shivpur high school headmaster on similar charges, Stephen hatched a plan to use this opportunity as a weapon against Rithesh Shetty, police investigation revealed.

During interrogation, Stephen reportedly said that 15 years ago, Rithesh Shetty had assaulted him in connection with a dispute over business. However, sources said that there is uncertainty over the veracity of his statement.

It may be recalled that Rithesh Shetty was detained after a letter in the names of 'Shibani' and 'Prem', alleging Shetty of sexually harassing students, was faxed to the chief minister's office. The CM took the matter seriously and directed the then SP of Udupi district Dr Boralingaiah to look into the matter. The SP instructed the Karkala police accordingly, and Rithesh Shetty was detained. However, police investigation revealed that the allegations were false, and the case was dropped. The locals too had come out in strong support of Rithesh Shetty.

Culprit is a minority so Siddhu won't ask any action against the accused. some patch up, custody for some days when people forget it, bail !!!! that is the congress culture.

    @ KRPrabhu, Bangalore,
CM has not asked the police to arrest Ritesh Shetty. What he ordered was to probe the contents of the letter and punish the guilty. It was the duty of the Police to verify the complaint and proper inquiry had to be done. Now if the main culprit is Stephen, then a defamation case should be filed against Stephen. Let Rithesh decide what should be the compensation. Definitely the guilty should be punished and it should be a clear signal for others.

Mr.Jerry mam,Here Rithesh Shetty and Stephan has not direct issues.Stephan resorted to fraudelent methods to revenge his grudge against respected High School HM but way of police handling the case was totally wrong.Maybe police inspired to please the CM and took action detrimental to honest, honourable citizen.Had not the village people supported the HM the things would have different.Police/Govt come under one bracket and hence Ritesh shetty should take recource against the state govt only for redressal of his grievence.Stephan will be taken care of by police seperately and it is entirely different issue. The issue has insulted teaching community.Politics has no place here.Just put yourself in the place Sri Rithesh Shetty and think for a while.

Jerry for your records as published in Daiji...
"It is said that two persons identified as Shibani and Prem faxed a letter to the office of the chief minister alleging that Rithesh Shetty had been sexually abusing students in the school. The CM took serious note of the matter and sent a letter addressed to the superintendent of police, seeking action against the headmaster."

As I had said earlier, a meeting should be called by the local people and Mr Rithesh Shetty should be felicitated publicly to restore his honour. The police should apologise for arresting him without verifying the anonymous letter. As for Stephen, though he can not restore fully the dignity and honour of Shri Rithesh Shetty, he should publicly apologise to him and ask his forgiveness. There is no justification in holding a grudge for 15 years and then resorting to this type of foolish behaviour.

False accusation and shielding wrong doer is serious crime.
Revenge leads to further destruction. Wrong doer deserves punishment as per law.
Therefore it is said in scriptures that, DON'T HOLD GRUDGE AGAINST ANYONE & LEAVE IT TO ME FOR PUNISHMENT.

I once again reiterate that Rithesh Shetty should file a defamation case against Siddu Govt for a compensation of ten crores for having undergone severa agony and insult due to wrong hadling of the anonymous letter against a respectable citizen. Its a very serious matter and Bunts community should take this matter and fight for Rithesh Shetty to take the issue to its logical end.
