Udupi, Jul 28: The All-India Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2014 organized by Udupi District Badminton Association drew to an end on Sunday July 27 at district indoor stadium in Ajjarkad here.
Former union minister Oscar Fernandes attended the ceremony and said that he had promised to grant Rs 1 crore from the minister’s fund to Yuva Jana Seva and sports department for the development of the Udupi sports stadium.
Abhayachandra Jain, minister for youth affairs and sports, announced Rs 1.5 crore for the development of the district indoor stadium.
Vinay Kumar, district in-charge minister presided over the programme.
Raghupati Bhat, ex-MLA, Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA of Udupi, H S Ballal, pro-chancellor, MIT Manipal, DC Muddu Mohan, Laxmi Gopichand, former national badminton champion, Prakash Kodavoor and others were present.
Roshan Shetty, deputy director of sports and youth affairs, Udupi compered the programme.
