Udupi: VHP and Bajrang Dal allege forcible conversion, urge action

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (HB)

Udupi, Jul 26: The activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal on Saturday July 26 alleged forcible conversions of poor families living in 80 Badagabettu colony here by Christian priests, and urged action in this regard.

The activists said that there are 110 families of migrant labourers, chiefly from Tamil Nadu, and locals staying in the colony. They alleged that out of these, 20 families had been 'forcibly' converted to Christianity.

The VHP and Bajrang Dal members also said that the conversions were being done by priests of Udyavar and Korangarapady churches.

"This has been going on from the past one year. Even Ayyappa devotees have been converted to Christianity. There is pressure on other families also to follow suit," they alleged.

"Earlier the priests used to go around on Thursday nights and knock on doors of these families with an intention to preach. After a police complaint was filed, they started doing the same on Friday mornings. This should stop," they said.

They also claimed that trees in the area had been cut by Muslims, causing death of snakes.

The protestors handed over a memorandum to Manipal police, urging action against forcible conversion.

Baikady Suprasad Shetty of VHP and Bajrang Dal leader Sunil K R led the protest, which was held at Netajinagar in Manipal. Members of other like-minded organizations were also present.

I have seen a lot of missionaries running boarding schools in remote places of this country. The funding for the same comes from overseas. The children come from very poor families,Their parents are labourers who find it very hard to make meets end.Hence for the better future of their children they happily allow them to join the same for their better future. Here comes the catch these small children are brainwashed, given a different name, religion, made to believe in what the missionaries want them to believe in,they teach them from a very young age and hence the impact is high, slowly the children believe and grow up to be a same person with a different religion.I dont see any forcible conversions here. But yes conversion did happen.Correct me if i am wrong

Christian people love peace and people hate Christians,? Who think forcible conversion
Anyone cannot buy God or buy people by offering for God.
Christian missionaries may help poor but cannot lure, and if anyone do than God will punish them.
I can control anyone for short period by offering but I cannot control long.
So please stop blaming, false commenting.
Christians are not condemn people go out or come in,
If people come to Christianity, convert than he is watching the life of the person, (this taught comes in his mind) how he changed by accepting Christ, how his life, he have the peace joy of God in him, what I don’t,if I accept than may I have forgiveness of sins and same thing that person had I will experience too.
God want to change person than in his time he can change anyone. no need to force. when god change that changes last, and mans mind than it want last.
Any one cannot feed me by force even tying. Choice is my own, accept and eat or leave.

How come these christian missionaries only able to enlighten poor hindu families ?.you can find these conversion centers mostly in slum areas .so if people are arguing it's ok to convert poor hindus by offering them financial aid then i don't see anything wrong with VHP activity .
ISKON is behind money they are not interested to convert poor whites their target is white rich people.
It's laughable if people are comparing conversion in India with ISKON activity ....

Dear All( who are considered as unbelievers)
Please note that, the question posted in my previous comment was just to know what and how other belief people see an apostate considering their holy scriptures!
Helping people who are in need is well and good like other bodies(NGO) do, but in the name of helping we should not differentiate with the word GOD, Even GOD(If u consider it one and the same) do not see whether he is from certain belief to weigh his deeds!
Actually converting to any other faith is strictly prohibited in both the belief(which I posted in my previous comment) , In some places apostasy is treated with harsh punishment like death.
We the unbelievers(titled by their scriptures) believe what ever supreme entity from any other belief system is considered as one and the same or it is like one of them and think all are same without differentiating but not for them, if you go through their scripts then you will realize why there is discrimination !!
So remember unbelievers you are really great to be living as unbeliever treating fellow beings equally(as world is one family ) without considering faith and I am one of you !!
To all muslim beothers and sisters Eid mubharak, amy peace prevail on earth!!
    Jai hind

    Dear All ,
    Can anyone clear this !!
Apostasy in Christianity and Islam , whether it is forced conversion or for any other reason?
Is there permission for it, or the holy books strictly warns for apostasy!!
It will help people who merely knows what exactly apostasy mean in other beliefs .
And people speaking for or against conversion will get a clear idea for all the comments posted in this article!

We don't force people to go there. In fact many of the brethren of different religions commend the catholics who are basically loving and caring. Many keep visiting our shrines even after their issues are solved saying they get peace just by going there.
I am sure many family members of the rioters will have found solace with us. We welcome you but we don't force you. It is up to a persons calling that takes him or her there.

FORCIBLE CONVERSION - IT'S ALWAYS LOOKS JUST AN EXCUSE FOR THIS PEOPLE. IT'S 'FRUSTRATION' WHICH LED THEM TO PUT BASELESS BLAMES TO OTHER COMMUNITIES.
WHOEVER CONVERTS, THEY SAY IT'S BY FORCE.
THERE IS NO LOGIC IN FORCE TO ACCEPT ANY RELIGION. IF CONVERSION HAPPENING THEY SHOULD FIRST THINK WHAT'S LACKING IN THEIR BELIEVES AND SPIRITUALITY WHICH CAUSED LOOSING FAITH IN IT. ALSO, BEFORE QUESTIONING THOSE WHO CONVERTS THEY SHOULD ANALYZE THE LOGICAL FACTORS BETWEEN TWO BELIEVES.

Now BD /VHP had found new issue of migrant labourers being converted. The real issue is BJP had promised during elections, the unachievable list to young voters and citizens. Now they have to divert the peoples mind.

Citizens be careful with such type of negative, divisive tactics. We want peace and harmony not disturbances. Population increasing, no jobs and youngsters are misled.

The article Says that Converted by Priests & Churches. The once citizen of India Must know that No Roman catholic Priests are visiting and converting the Poeple. This acy is of the People of Chrisitans who are form the other Denominations. But by Religion they are christians. But non Chrisitoans will know only about RC and they Start attacking RC churches and Priests. Befor emaking any assutls attacks one citizen must know who are prime supsects in conversion, they must not simply go to RC churches and attack.Christians ,other than RC and Protestants- do not hold any church -they use Hall and Rooms for the ier meeting Place and Prayers.Hence Non Chrisitians Only Know RC Churches and attack them. There should be a subject in the school about the Religions and its Denominations, then only a Non Chrisitians will know who are peace loving and act accoroding to the law of Religion. Thus BJD and RSS Leaders must attend some seminars regarding Religion and they must relay the informations to thier outfits.Lets save our country form the Hooligans.

    Dear Sudarshan
It is not so easy for the Roman Catholics to condemn the other denominations as it is out of their control. Being myself a Roman Catholic and I do attend some of the non Roman Catholic but Christian groups prayer meeting for more than 10 yrs, whenever I get time: still I fail to understand their way of functioning.

Good thing about them is, they strictly advise their congregation not to drink alcohol , smoking, eating pan and these type of intoxicated stuff. Also in their prayers groups, the importance to money is not at all existed like in many other churches including Roman Catholic coastal Karnataka churches.

Some join these type of churches due to the recognition they receive as human being, good advise, detachment from intoxicated stuff etc etc. and finally they live better life & peace of mind.

I think 75% or hindus bebleive in all relegion including me and i have and go to the church .... but the sad thing thing is my friends from groups like born Jesus , Truth of life blah blah blah dont beleive in my religion and tell me only they are right and for them even passing trough a temple premise is sin ... i am not exaggerating !!!

What These People are thinking and creating everyday a new Action.I never heard or knew snakes are dying because one cuts the tree. They wander elsewhere .and These People probably dont know that even in Andhra Pradesh and elsewhere are Christians and they follow Religion in their own language. How one can forcibly convert others? why were they didnt object when converting Moment?it is all jobless and paid peoples Business.Creating Troubles where no Trouble is.why did they not help These People when were in Trouble and homeless ,?when someone goes to help them in their Trouble then they are to say forcibly converting?even when they got converted ,their own Business and wish.we are in a free Country. It is time that someone Shows them the right way and take Action. They know only to shout and roam about, organize strikes or protest but no proper Job to help the needy.

I am a Hindu Brahman and my immediate neighbour are christians before my birth they are there. My family is always defended on them and they are with us. They come to our house and we their even today. When christian priest from siddakatte comes visit them to bless there house my mother gets holy water from him it is a tradition for her. we have played, grown, worked together not a single of them asked to become christians. For us they are more than our relatives. whom shall blame....

Why make such a hue a cry about conversions? Since the VHP & BD have filed complaint, let there be fair and transparent enquiry and let the priests be prosecuted according to law if proved that they were converted using force or against their wishes. Christianity does not preach its followers to convert anybody through compulsion or inducement by showing material or financial favours.

People dont have time to do all this in reality . Only these jobless boys are creating problems. Just to conclude everyone has a right to choose and follow a religion. who are these to go n complain? Hindu can get converted as a Christian and Christian can convert as Hindu and applicable to all religions. I have seen so examples wherein many foreign people come and follow Hindu Religion here in India because they like it. Have you seen anybody protesting against it? Grow up people and don't create problem in society. Lets all live peacefully. Jai Hind. :)

Why are these VHP and Bajrangdal afraid of loosing numbers? God by any name is not anyone's private property. He belongs to all and a hindu God is not different from a muslim or Christian or a Parsi God. People who have experienced God feel at home with all religions. If you have not experienced God as compassion, love and forgiveness then you resort to violence. The terrible things that are happening in our country in the name of religion should be condemned by all. Allow me to worship God of my choice. Who are you to tell me how I should worship God and where I should worship and by what name?. I feel terribly disturbed to hear about my homeland where we lived in total harmony with all faiths and now due to the ignorance of a few we are made to live in fear of each other. Is this Ramrajya you want to create? Give us freedom of worship and help us to live in peace and harmony with all faiths.

We are seeing Acche Din all over the country in UP, in Goa, controversy of Sania Mirza in Telangana and now it will start in Karnataka also..I will not be surprised very soon India will be in grip of communal violence a bigger version of Gujarat model. We will be moving backwards instead of moving forward .I read about Winston Churchill's observation on Indian independence in the internet and it looks like it is coming true..."Power will go to rascals, rogues, freebooters. . . .
All leaders will be of low caliber & men of straw. . .
    They'll have sweet tongues & silly hearts. . .
They will fight amongst themselves for power & the two countries will be lost in political squabbles. . . .
A day would come when even air & water will be taxed.

He wrote this 64 years ago. . .
Incredibly we've worked very hard to prove him right. . . "

Apparently these words were uttered by Winston Churchill on the topic of granting India independence.
And if you read the news of India its not surprising to find an article about so and so scam or corruption involving major political figures.
It is a very sad day for all peace loving Indians that the sacrifice of our great freedom fighters ,soldiers and their families will go in vain because of a bunch of narrow minded individuals who dont understand what is Indianess forget about religion.

Have you EVER your family member been sick and needed the blood transfusion in the past. do u know who is the donor of the blood. are you going to avoid if the donor comes from Christian, better you do , because Christian blood can cause to convert you as well.Any of your family members living in abroad, could be gulf or western countries, They might be forced to believe in Allah or Christian OR BECOME AGNOSTIC.TRADITIONALLY HINDU PEOPLE CAN DRINK ALCOHOL AND PORT.WHO IS STICK INTO THE CASTE AND RELIGION AND TRADITION. Means what priest use riffle , Gun knife, sword etc, this type of weapons took with him to knock the doors of poor families. They wish their own wish is not wrong. May be that poor peoples saw the right path with Christianity. They have right to choose the right path, Its not a big issue. Only politics. If a human being is having really faith in his religion and loves his religion from heart, then no body is there in the world to convert him to other religion even if offered with any amount of money, facility or what not. Religion is the creation of human beings and not by the God. God has created only Man and Woman. The blood of a Hindu can be given to a Muslim or Christian or any other religion. The child does not know his or her religion when it comes to the world. So we fight for the religion. No body should force to change his religion.
