Kasargod: Triple ride, without licence - Three boys die in accident

Daijiworld Media Network - Kasargod

Kasargod, Jul 19: Three youngsters, aged 15, 10 and 7, met a tragic death in a ghastly accident that took place between a scooter and a car Nellikunje here on Saturday July 19.

The deceased have been identified as Sajaad (15), son of Sabeer, a resident of Nellikunje, Mubaris (10), son of Mohammed, and Afrath (7), son of Afraz. Sajaad's father Sabeer works in Dubai while Afrath's father works in Saudi Arabia. The deceased boys are said to be cousins.

It is said that the scooter was being ridden by Sajaad, without licence, with the other two boys riding pillion. The car and the scooter collided near Nellikunje junction. The impact was such that the boys were thrown on to the road.

Sajaad lost his life on the spot. The other two boys who were rushed to Kasargod government hospital by the locals passed away sometime later.

The bodies were shifted to the mortuary at Kasargod general hospital, and would be handed over to the families after post-mortem.

Sources said that there was an Iftar party for relatives planned at Sajaad's house the same evening, and he was sent out to buy some groceries and other items for the party's preparation. The boy took out the scooter that was in the house, with his cousins riding pillion.

Sajaad's family resides in the Gulf and had come down to hometown at the beginning of Ramadan. His father returned to Dubai after week and was supposed to come home again for Id-ul-Fitr. Mubaris was a student of fifth standard in a school at Nellikunje, while Afrath was studying in second standard at K S Abdullah English Medium School.

Kasargod town police have registered a case.

My very deepest condolence to the parents, siblings and extended families of these 3 boys. I have 2 sons of my own, 14 and 12. Both of them knew Sajjad from school and were shocked to hear of his sad and untimely demise.
Last nite we sat down with our boys to talk to them of how they were feeling and how this was effecting them. We prayed for the parents and families of the boys. We also took the opportunity to make it a life lesson for our sons.

As to laying responsibility, this is not the time nor the place to do it. 3 families have been changed forever. We should at this time support them with our prayers and presence if possible.

Lets not forget we were all young some day and all of us have done something despite our parents telling us not to and despite us knowing it was wrong. Some of us were blessed to walk away from wrong choices with a story to tell, be it serious or funny. Some were not so fortunate.

Lets take this time to support these families. Lets take this time live and let live, for truly life is short and fleeting.

Cadice, you are absolutely right!! The problem is nowadays even if the parents are strict and advise the growing kids not to do something they will still do it on the sly when with their peer group after all, it is not possible to be after them 24x7 and also, as you said we also as kids have done so many things on the sly which our parents told us are bad or risky!!

absolutely NO Taeri,Dubai. You are wrong. If you are talking about sympothy, yes we all are with family during this crisis. But when we are discussing on who is responsible, it's absolutely the parents. We don't care when our kids are going for all these craqzy stuffs. Kids are not aware of the consequences and all and it's we need to stop them when they are getting in to all these things. I always see such kids or chilren drive hevoc on roads... with similar case as above, other kids sitting behind... they don't know the consequences... and unless we stop them, either convincing them or stop them by force at least... unless you do this, we the parents are held responsible for such disasters. We lose them and we are the loosers, nobody else can be blamed or held responsible. Once again I am telling, we are with family on this sad incident. RIP.

Read the report properly before commenting. It merely states that the boy was sent to fetch groceries, and it is HE who took out the scooter, with or without parent's permission. The mere fact that he rode the scooter points that his parents let him learn to ride at such a young age, and for sure he has ridden it before also with their knowledge. So ultimately, whatever the report may state, the blame is on parents. Saying that parents cannot control their kids does not give them clean chit...they have to bear responsibility for what their kids do, otherwise it's simply bad parenting.

tHE NEWS REPORTED IN THIS SEGMENT IS WRONG. tHE REPORTER IS TO STUDY PRIOR TO REPORTING SUCH INCIDENTS BLAMING THE PARENTS. TODAYS CHILDREN ARE VERY INQUISITIVE (EAGER TO KNOW). WHEN REFUSED OR PROHIBITED BY THE PARENTS ON SOMETHING THEY GO AT ANY LENGTHS TO DO THE EXACT THING.. WHERE IS THE BLAME TO THE PARENTS.. LOSS IS NOT FOR THE POLICE, RTO OR ANYONE..
ON THE COMMENT OF THE POOR DRIVER, IT WAS A SMALL STREET WITH V LITTLE TRAFFIC THE DRIVER IS AT FAULT FOR DRIVING THE CAR LIKE A RACE CAR ON AN RURAL ROAD.. WHY DID HE FLED THE SCENE IF HE WAS NOT GUILTY?? PEOPLE WHO COMMENT SUCH STUPID REMARKS THINK TWICE UR CHILDREN CAN ALSO BE IN THIS POSITION.. WHAT DO U DO THEN ????

Today parents take pleasure in exposing children to early driving which helps them brag ,My son is only 9 and he drives the car !
Immediately another mother boasts my daughter is only 7 and. Drives the scooter !!!
The mother sends the boy to fetch something by scooter ?, walking, bus, rick ?
    Statement not clear.p

Now a days it is question of prestige for the parents at the cost of teenage children's life.In the society, when they meet each other, they can boast very proudly without realizing the impact/implication/seriousness of of accidents that "YENNA MAGE/MAGAL SCOOTER/BIKE/LUNA BUDARE KALDHER".Aftermath of the incidents/accidents one must squarely blame parents not police, government or any other authorities in this regard. Now what happened in this incident, three precious lives have been lost at this blossoming/budding/tender stage.Who has to be blamed?Police,RTO,Government or any other officials?.So sad and deadly tragedy.May God grant eternal peace to the departed souls of three young boys and strength, courage, energy to the bereaved families to overcome this irreparable loss.Heartfelt condolence to families who lost their children.

So sad to hear this. Parents should be very careful. It is a general mistake committed by gulf parents to give their kids whatever they wanted. You can give the kids whatever they want but don't give them what will harm their lives. This is very tragic. May their souls rest in peace.

There is quantum jump in the density of two wheeler in the roads. The riders are mostly youngsters with out valid driver's license.Even daily laborers are using two wheeler for the job site with three on the wheel.couple week back i mentioned the issue in this forum.RTO/Police should check the (TW)in morning and evening time,I am sure there are lot offenders even in my area also.May souls rest in peace.
