Udupi, Jul 13: Sri Krishna Math, Paryaya Sri Kaniyoor Math, SMSP Sanskrit College, Udupi (Tumkur University) and Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Education Society, Ujire, mutually organized a programme to mark the inauguration of the SMSP Sanskrit Research Center, Udupi and Astrology Encyclopedia Project on Saturday July 12 at Rajangan Stadium here.
Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swami of Pejawar Mutt blessed the gathering and in his inaugural speech said, “Astrology is a priceless contribution to India. Guru Madhwacharya was the founder father of
research works. He also predicated revolutionary thoughts.”
The Swami condemned fake astrologers who harass many people. “People should not lose their belief in astrology and its significance,” he added.
Rajarshi Veerendra Heggade, speaking on the occasion, said, “Indians have all the accurate and theoretical knowledge regarding astrology; it is one of the rich assets of our heritage.”
He said that it was a matter of pity that the younger generation is addicted to calculators and computers.
“Astrology is a science, so there is a need to preserve encyclopedias and ensure maximum utilization of traditional knowledge and advanced technology,” he added.
Suresh Acharya introduced part of the event. Saligrama Srinivas Adiga, the author of Sanskrit encyclopedia, presented the introductory view on encyclopedia.
