Mangalore: Jul 21: The use of latest technology in administration could be seen in the twin coastal districts of DK and Udupi on Thursday, Jul 19.
The DK and Udupi district administrations in the offices of the respective superintendent of police and in the presence of RTOs of both districts participated in the conference with a purpose of discussing the revision of bus fares for private bus operators of both the districts.
Prior to this, both districts had held RTA (Road Transport Authority) meetings in their respective district head quarters and had consulted the members of the public and also the various bus operators.
As the number of private buses operating between Mangalore and Udupi is high, any fare hike or fixation of bus fare would affect both the districts. Hence the discussion via video conferencing was held to obtain views of both district officers on the fare hike and come to certain conclusion.
After discussing the various aspects pertaining to the issue, both RTOs have been asked to work out the rates based on certain parameters agreed upon during the meeting. After this exercise, final decision will be taken.
Besides DK Deputy Commissioner Maheshwar Rao, DK Superintend of Police B Dayananda, Udupi Deputy Commissioner Ponnuraj, Udupi Superintend of Police A S Rao and ASP Satish Kumar also participated in the conference.
