Mangalore, Jul 20: After master blaster Sachin Tendulkar got the thumbs up from his physiotherapist John Gloster in the fitness test on Tuesday, his spiritual mentor V S Nayak also has good news for the Little Master.

“His performance will be good in the upcoming tri-series against Sri Lanka and South Africa,” Nayak told the reporter from Amritsar on Wednesday.

However, Nayak said he had insisted that Sachin also perform a seva to get rid of his Naga Dosha at Kukke Subramanya Temple in Dakshina Kannada district.

Sachin, along with his wife Anjali, had performed the ritual known as Sarpa Samskara and Ashlesha Bali at the temple on May 8. Nayak feels Sachin’s best performance will come only after he performs all the rituals associated with removal of Naga Dosha.

Sachin had to leave the temple town in a hurry. Nayak also said at that time that the ritual should be performed for three and-a-half days. But Sachin was in Subramanya only for one-and -half days.

“Some poojas are still left to be done,” Nayak said expressing his disappointment that Sachin had not contacted him ever since he left Subramanya. “There are still some problems associated with Naga Dosha. If that is looked into, his performance will be better,” he added.

Nayak had predicted that Sachin’s physical ailments and the slump in form were as a result of Naga Dosha and adverse planetary positions. The seva was to set this right and seek the deity’s blessings, he had then said.

According to Nayak, Sachin’s ancestors had accidentally killed a cobra and had not performed some rituals, similar to last rites performed on humans. This ritual is known as Sarpa Samskara.

Asked how relevant these are for Sachin, Nayak asserted that as much as medicines were necessary to cure an ailment, these rituals were necessary to invoke God’s blessings for a person’s well-being.

And as to why Sachin was advised to perform the seva at Subramanya, he said, “There is no other place in the country to remove Naga Dosha. Moreover, the power and sanctity of this place is miraculous.”
