Udupi, Jun 2: Sreesha S, a young engineering graduate has been chosen as the successor of Sri Vishwapriyateertha Swamiji of Admar Math. This is the first time an engineer has been appointed as the successor of a Math.
Admar Math trust runs many educational institutions and with a view to ensure that the trust is run effectively, the decision has been taken to appoint the well-educated Sreesha as the successor of the Math by Sri Vishwapriyateertha Sripada.
Sreesha (29) is a resident of Shiroor in Hiriyadka. His ancestors had come to Shiroor from Padubidri and settled there. He is a BE, mechanical engineering graduate.
Son of Chadrashekar and Gowri, Sreesha is the youngest among four children, born on March 20, 1985. Sreesha completed his schooling and PU education in Teerthahalli where his father ran a hotel business. He then completed his BE from Jawaharlal College of Engineering, Shimoga in the year 2006.
He three brothers - Ramamurthy, Rajesh and Girish - are graduates in computer science. Rajesh lives in the US, while the others are employed in Bangalore. Their mother Gowri looks after their farms and fields in Shiroor.
Sreesha was had earlier taken up jobs in Udupi and Mangalore. He has also completed primary courses on religious rituals, epics and other related subjects from veteran scholar Padubidri Lakshmi Narayana Sharma. Presently he is learning Vishnu Tathwa Nirnaya from Ganapathi Acharya at Udupi Admar Math.
Religious rituals with regard to the handing over of charge will begin from June 16 at Kunjarugiri Durga Temple, which is also under the Admar Math Trust. Sreesha will be officially declared as successor to the Math on June 19.
"Sreesha has great interest towards religious studies. He is well-versed in matters related to Math administration and will surely be successful in managing the Math," said Sri Vishwapriyateertha Swamiji.
"I have had great interest towards the spirituality right from my childhood. After graduating as engineer, I started studying spirituality, hand-in-hand with my professional lifem," said Sreesha.
"My Guru has given me responsibilities with faith and trust. He has also given me a chance to perform puja to Sri Krishna. I will live up to the expectations to the best of my abilities," said Sreesha.
