Mangalore, May 31: The Catholic Association of South Kanara (CASK), Sylvester Frank Centenary Foundation (SFCF) and St Aloysius College Alumni/ae Association jointly hosted a grand reception to bishop of Shimoga Dr Francis Serrao, the first Indian-born Jesuit to be appointed as the bishop from the undivided diocese of Mangalore, on Friday, May 30.
Prof Edmund Frank, the convener and the chairman of SFCF welcomed the gathering and gave the introductory address.
Dr Derek Lobo, the president of CASK delivered the valedictory address.
The felicitation ceremony was performed by Fr Denzil Lobo, rector of St Aloysius institutions.
In his address, the bishop thanked the organizers, especially Prof Edmund Frank for organizing the programme. He spoke about his experience as a Jesuit and also about his future plans.
Fr Stany D'Souza, the provincial of the Karnataka Jesuits presided over the programme.
Michael D'Souza, the president of SACAA proposed the vote of thanks and Captain John Prasad Menezes compered. Elix D'Silva looked after the stage arrangement.
