Karkala/Kundapur, May 23: "Karnataka has been done injustice because of the regressive policies of the Congress government. When the Kasturirangan report has not been adopted in Kerala, how can it be accepted in Karnataka? The share markets plummetted during the Congress regime, the rupee devalued against the dollar. Prices of essential commodities skyrocketed. The voters have given a fitting reply to the Congress for all these problems," said newly-elected Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje.
She was speaking at a victory rally and a thanksgiving programme organized by BJP Karkala unit at Bandimutt bus stand here on Thursday May 22 evening.
"We will do our best to find solutions to all the problems of Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency within the next two months," she promised.
"The dream that Atal Bihari Vajpayee had seen in 1984, of coming to power at the centre with absolute majority, has become a reality in 2014. The voters across the country have supported Narendra Modi, who is pro-development and who fought against corruption, and have thereby given a fitting reply not only to the state Congress but to national Congress as well. Even in Karnataka, BJP bagged a majority of seats, and a few places where it lost were close finishes," she said.
"The country's new Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi is already thinking of ways to secure a brighter future for India, and chalking out strategies for boosting bordering security, tackling terrorism and rejuvenating the rupee. Therefore, the spirit and enthusiasm of BJP workers should increase two-fold in all the forthcoming elections," she added.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Sunil Kumar criticized JD(S) candidate Dhananjay Kumar for spreading rumours of a conspiracy by him against Shobha Karandlaje prior to the elections. "The 'great' person who made such allegations could garner only 1,400 votes in the constituency. Veerappa Moily who, before the elections, had said there is no BJP in the country has to now search for the Congress," he said.
Ravindra Kumar welcomed the gathering. Sanoor Narasimha Kamath compered, while Prakash Rao proposed the vote of thanks.
BJP district president Tingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, Maniraj Shetty, Bola Prabhakar Kamath, state secretary Shyamala Kunder, district secretary Kuthyar Naveen Shetty, taluk panchayat president Rashmi Shetty, and many others were present.
After Karkala, the procession was held in Kundapur, culminating in a similar thanksgiving programme.
