Kolkata, May 23 (IANS): Ensuring continued healthcare delivery for heart patients after surgery, a leading private hospital here will roll out nursing services at home - a first for east India.
Envisaging a comprehensive healthcare target, the CK Birla Group of Hospitals will launch the service 'Homecare Nursing Service' in June where trained nurses will monitor patients as they recuperate at their residences following discharge from hospital.
"We have initially started with cardiac patients since they require a lot of care post-discharge. In a hospital, there is a continuum of healthcare which needs to be maintained at home...that can make a big difference in recovery," said S.P. Singh, Group CEO, CK Birla Healthcare.
The venture will initially b flagged off from the group's BM Birla Heart Research Centre, Kolkata and it will be available for seven days a week for the patients of the hospital. The Calcutta Medical Research Institute, also a part of the group, will join in later.
"We are also planning to send trained nurses to observe their psychological state and to see how well the patients have adjusted afterwards," said Singh.
