Gutthi to turn into Chutki on his own show

By Subhash K.Jha
Mumbai, Jan 11 (IANS):
Comedian Sunil Grover, much in the news in the last quarter of 2013 for his hasty exit from Kapil Sharma's show is set to resurrect his beloved creation Gutthi in a different avatar on his own show.

The show will air on Star Plus later in January, and its promo was shot last week.

The new female character that Grover would introduce on his show would be called Chutki.

"Star Plus and Sunil Grover thought of many variations on Gutthi. They've finally decided to call his new female avatar Chutki," said a source.

Chukti would physically resemble Gutthi, the source said and added: "The get-up and body-language would be similar but not identical. Sunil Grover and the channel want to give a fresh identity to Sunil Grover's show. They don't want it to look like a carryover of Kapil Sharma's show."

Apparently, the jokes, gags and skits are being consciously planned as being different from Kapil's show. Plans to pitch Grover's show bang against "Comedy Night With Kapil" have also been dropped.

"Sunil's show has for now been slotted for 8:30 p.m. behind Kapil's show which comes on at 10 p.m. The idea is to let the two shows co-exist rather than compete against one another...at least for now," the source said.

The title of the show needs to be still decided upon.
