New Delhi/Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 21 (IANS): The Supreme court's decision allowing jailed Peoples Democratic Party leader Abdul Nasser Maudany to undergo an eye surgery was hailed by his son here Monday.
The apex court Monday allowed him to undergo the eye surgery and also permitted Maudany's wife to be with him in hospital.
Addressing reporters in Kerala's Malappuram area, Umar Mukhtar said, "Special thanks to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy as he did take up the issue with the Karnataka government. My father has not been keeping well."
Maudany had moved a petition in the Supreme Court seeking bail for medical treatment.
Maudany, a political leader from Kerala, is in jail in Karnataka since August 2010 for his alleged involvement in the 2008 Bangalore bomb blasts.
He secured parole for a few days in March this year to attend his daughter's wedding and then returned to the jail.
Oommen Chandy spoke to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah Sep 21 to ensure justice to the Muslim leader lodged in a Bangalore jail.
