Mangalore, Mar 13: City mayor K Ashraf has appealed chief minister H D Kumaraswamy to sanction funds for the construction of new vented dam so that the impending water crisis of the city is solved.
He submitted an appeal to the chief minister on Sunday March 12 while the latter was in the city. Suratkal MLA Krishna Palemar, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde, corporator Shankar Bhat, executive engineer Suresh Babu were the part of the delegation that met the chief minister on Sunday.
The new dam has been planned at a cost of Rs 40 crore. As such MCC is not able to bear such a huge amount at its own. So the state government needs to look into the matter in depth to overcome the water crisis of the city, which is crippling the development and growth of the city.
