Udupi: Police take 2 more illegal Bangladeshi immigrants into custody, intensify investigation

Udupi, Oct 16: Udupi police have stepped up their investigation into illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the district. Authorities have taken custody of two additional immigrants who arrived illegally from Karkala, with arrest procedures pending further inquiries, according to superintendent of police Dr Arun K.

An inquest (mahazar) was also conducted at two locations on Wednesday, October 16.

The police confirmed that one of the seven illegal immigrants arrested in Malpe had registered himself as a construction labourer with the labour department.

Investigations are ongoing, focusing on locals in contact with these immigrants, including landlords and employers.
