Mangalore, Mar 12: Fr Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) will celebrate its 126 institution day and graduation ceremony on Monday March 13 at Fr Muller Stadium. This was informed by FMCI director Fr Baptist Menezes in a press meet here on Saturday, March 11.

The month-long preparation for the event which included organizing various cultural, artistic and sports activities for the staff and students of various colleges of FMCI will culminate at the grand finale of the institution day and graduation ceremony.

Incidentally, the day is also the birthday of Fr Augustus Muller.

A total of 210 graduates from Fr Muller Medical College, 60 graduates from Fr Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and 168 graduates from Fr Muller College of Nursing will receive their degree certificates and other awards.

Students who have excelled in their studies at the university-level, in cultural, variety entertainment and sports events will also be awarded with certificates and awards on the occasion. Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) Vice Chancellor Dr PS Prabhakaran will be the chief guest for the programme while Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy Director Dr B N Prakash and Tufts University School of Medicine (Boston, USA) Public Health Dean Dr Harris A Berman will be the guests of honour.

Bishop of Mangalore Fr Aloysius Paul D'Souza will preside over the ceremony.

Health Card Scheme: For the benefit of below poverty line (BPL) families Fr Muller Charitable Institution will launch a Health Card Scheme. The scheme will be launched in association with United India Insurance Company and envisages free medical in-patient care facility to the beneficiaries.

The teaching and non-teaching staff of the institution will be covered under the scheme in the first phase. Under the scheme, the staff has to pay 50 per cent of the premium and the institution would bear the rest. In the second phase, the scheme would be extended to the public. The scheme was both for individuals and their families and subjected to an annual renewal. The scheme will offer free treatment to patients up to Rs 15,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 50,000 range, depending upon the scheme.

Fr Muller Counselling Centre for the youth and the ill persons and a Cardio Thoracic Unit (the open heart surgery theatre and other allied units around the unit) will be inaugurated on the occasion.

FMCI Administrators Fr Lawrence D'Souza, Fr Stany Tauro, Fr William Menezes, Dean Dr Sanjeev Rai, Dr S K Tiwari, Sr Aileen Mathias and Dr L L Joshua were present at the press meet.
