Bamako (Mali), Sep 6 (IANS): Mali's President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita was Thursday appointed Oumar Tatam Ly as prime minister of the country, according to the national television.
Ly is a former national director of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) in Mali, Xinhua reported citing the television report.
Born Sep 28, 1963 in Paris, Tatam Ly was, until his nomination, the special advisor to the BCEAO governor.
He is a son of Ibrahim, a renowned Malian writer who was opposed to the regime of ex-president general Moussa Traore. Ly himself is not known in Mali's political scene.
