Mangalore, Aug 25: The activists of VHP and Bajrang Dal, here on Sunday August 25 held a massive protest and a road block against the arrest of VHP leaders Ashok Singhal and Praveen Bhai Togadia in Ayodhya.
The protestors marched from VHP office in PVS towards Bunts Hostel and blocked the Bunts Hostel Circle, thus expressing their anger against the Central government.
The traffic around these areas came to a stand still for about 10 minutes. Soon after, with the intervention of the police, the protestors had to clear the spot.
Addressing the protestors, VHP leader Jagadish Shenava expressed his anger against the arrest of VHP leaders Ashok Singhal and Praveen Togadia. A massive protest is also planned to be held on August 26 from 10 am in front of the Town Hall here, he added.
Pravin Togadia and Ashok Singhal were arrested in a massive crackdown by the Central Government to enforce its ban on the yatra which was symbolically inaugurated by the saffron outfit in Ayodhya. Togadia was arrested from Ayodhya, while Singhal was taken into custody at Lucknow airport.
Singhal, who arrived from New Delhi with Swamy Ram Bhadracharya, was arrested at Lucknow when he insisted on visiting Ayodhya.
Leaders Sharan Pumpwell, Shivanand Mendon, Gopal Kuthar, Jeethendra Kottary, Pradeep Pumpwell, Punith Pumpwell, Bhujanga Kulal and others were present during the protest.
