Mangalore, Aug 5: The members of the Sri Rama Sene protested against state Assembly speaking Kagodu Thimmappa for insulting Rani Abbakka, here on Monday August 5 in front of the DC's office.

“Rani Abbakka is one of history’s greatest achievers, the first lady freedom fighter who united Mogaveeras and chased away the Portuguese from this land. Being a great patriotic lady, Rani Abbakka has been verbally insulted by Kagodu Thimmappa, who happens to have a high post in the state administration,” they said.

“He has to immediately apologize, failing which he has to resign from his post of state speaker,” said Kumar Malemar on behalf of Sri Rama Sene, Mangalore unit.

“The state government has been getting good benefits from Subrahmanya, Udupi, Kolluru and others Temples which are situated in Tulunadu. But they failed to do anything for the Tuluva people. You have just given us poisonous air from the dangerous industries and nothing else,” he lashed out.

“It is indeed sad and painful, when it was questioned during the assembly sessions, as to what Rani Abbakka has given to the people. The honorary president of Rani Abbakka Festival committee, also a local MLA, and MLA of Abbakka’s birth place Moodbidri, who are now ministers, remained silent when she was being insulted during the session,” he added.

An effigy of Kagodu Thimmappa was burnt on the occasion and a memorandum was submitted to the governor through the deputy commissioner.
