Karkala, Aug 4: The district administration and ZP together organized a programme to distribute various schemes at Karkala Manjunath Pai Memorial Hall on Saturday August 3.

The programme was inaugurated by Vinay Kumar Sorake, district-in-charge minister, and in his
inaugural speech he said that 1,400 beneficiaries will avail different facilities extended by the state government.

“Earlier, the Congress government started the Anna Bhagya scheme under which 30 kg of rice per month will be given to BPL (below poverty line) families across the state for Re 1 per kg.  Another initiative is the  ‘Ksheera Bhagya' project to distribute milk to schoolchildren across the state. About 1,400 beneficiaries were provided Rs 4.13 crore at Karkala. The intention of such programmes is to reach the schemes to the public at the earliest with maximum transparency,” he added.

“In addition, 214 Bhagyalaxmi bonds and 143 BPL cards including 15 different schemes by different departments were distributed here. The distribution of schemes like this will reduce the rush at government officers. This will be a transparent way to meet the public needs. It will also give a chance to the government officials to mix up and understand the need of the public and give maximum benefits to them,” said Sorake.

“A total of 4,000 houses were approved in the district this year. House subsidy was increased from Rs 75,000 to Rs 1.25 lac,” he said. He appealed to the public to utilize the provided schemes efficiently.

“Karkala will also be developed with double road and drainage will be provided soon. Naxal-affected areas and bus stand will be dealt with systematically,” assured Sorake.

M T Reju, DC, Sunil Kumar, MLA, Karkala, Upendra Nayak, ZP president, Karkala TP president Rashmi Shetty, Prabhakar Sharma (CEO), and Nirmala Devi, Tahsildar, Karkala, and others were present.
