Udupi, Aug 3: Under the aegis of Udupi district All Polytechnic College Students' Union, students from various polytechnic colleges went on hunger strike demanding solution for carry-over system in front of Manipal DC office on Friday August 2.
As many as 300 students from various polytechnic colleges took part in this day-long strike.
They demanded the chief minister to immediately intervene in this issue to solve the problem. They also threatened to protest in front of minister of higher education’s residence if the issue was not sorted out.
Udupi MLA Pramod Madwaraj who arrived at the spot promised the students to strive hard to find a solution. Later, for a while, he took part in the hunger protest along with the students.
Union president Dinakar Shetty spoke on behalf of students.
Union district president Jovin, Mangalore president Ramitha Poojary, leaders Ajith Karkera, Mohith, Sachin Bhandary, Roshan, Sandesh, Suketh, Vishal, Krathik were present during the protest.
