Mangalore, Aug 2: The inauguration of diploma and certificate courses of St Aloysius Evening College, Mangalore, was held at the Eric Mathias Hall in the PG block of St Aloysius College on Thursday August 1 at 5.30 pm.
The programme began with a prayer song by the first B Com students. Manohar Serrao, the principal, welcomed the gathering, while Dr Donald Lobo, the coordinator, diploma and certificate courses, introduced the guests and the courses.
A symbolic inauguration was done by lighting the lamp by all the dignitaries on the dais. The chief guest, John Edward D’Silva, vice-principal, St Aloysius College (autonomous) spoke about the importance of practical orientation in any training and showered accolades on the Evening College for offering industry related courses.
The guest of honour, M R Jayesha, DGM, SBM, Mangalore Zone, shared his thoughts about the banking industry and urged the students to add to their theoretical knowledge by enrolling in such relevant courses.
The administrator, Fr Michael John, thanked the college for organising excellent courses which benefit not just the students but also the society at large.
The president of the function Fr Denzil Lobo, rector, St Aloysius College Institutions, emphasised the importance of planning one’s finances well and saving for a rainy day.
He congratulated the evening college on its initiative in organising need-based courses.
Dr Charles V Furtado compered the programme and also proposed the vote of thanks. Many resource persons drawn from various fields of expertise were present in the programme which was well attended.
