Rajasthan cop kills three of family, self

Jaipur, July 27 (IANS): A 30-year-old Rajasthan Police constable killed his wife and three children here and then travelled to Haryana where he committed suicide by jumping in front of a train, police said Saturday.

"The police officers of Haryana's Ambala city informed us today (Saturday) that the body of constable Vijay Kumar was found there. They said the constable had committed suicide by jumping in front of a train," said a police officer.

When investigators went to the Jaipur house of the constable, posted in Reserve Police Lines, they recovered the bodies of his family members, police said.

The constable lived in a government quarter allotted in Rajasthan Police Academy.
When a police team went to his house it was found locked and a foul smell was emanating, police said.

"The door was broken open and four bodies were found," said the officer.

The throats of the constable's wife Asha Devi and three children were slit, police said.

Neighbours told police that the constable was an alcoholic who "used to beat up his wife and children" often, police said.

"It seems he killed them in a fit of rage and then committed suicide when he realised what he had done," said the officer.
