JALANDHAR, Jul 2 (Times of India) : A local BJP activist has been booked under Information Technology Act for posting a morphed picture of Congress president Sonia Gandhi on his Facebook showing her in bad light.
Two days back BJP activist SandeepBhalla posted the picture in which Sonia Gandhi's face was morphed into an animal's. On Sunday local Congress leader Sanjay Sehgal moved a complaint with Commissioner of Police GauravYadav stating that Bhalla's act attracted action under IT act. Acting on this police registered a case under section 66A of IT Act.
A visit to Bhalla's FB wall revealed that he is a Narendra Modi admirer and had posted messages wishing to see NaMo as next Prime Minister. He had also posted picture of Nitish Kumar after pasting his head on a reptile's body.
"Satire and even sarcasm are acceptable in political debate or propaganda but such depiction of a leader that too of a woman is un acceptable. What is more ironical is that this is being done by activists of a party which makes a lot of noise of Indian culture," said Sehgal while justifying his moving of the complaint. He said that it appeared that Modi's visit to Punjab appeared to have further poisoned the minds of his supporters and they were stopping to this level.
It may be mentioned here that state BJP President Kamal Sharma had tendered an apology for this act of his party worker saying that it was despicable and BJP did not approve such acts.
The day Bhalla posted the pictures some of his friends argued on his wall that it was despicable.
