Udupi, Jan 4: "We should neither be lambs nor wolves in our day-to-day lives. We should rather become shepherds who care and protect the sheep," said Karnataka Sahitya Academy member and famous compere Vincent Alva.
He was speaking after inaugurating "Yuva Tarang", a union of Konkani artiste at Pernal near here on Sunday December 25 evening. More than 400 people were present on the occasion.
Fr Valerian D'Souza, parish priest of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Pernal presided over the function. Vincent Lobo, president, Famad Pernal, UAE, Dilip Correa and Dinesh Correa, former president of Famad Pernal, UAE were the guests of honour on the occasion.
Some senior and present artistes of Pernal were honoured on the occasion along with a few artistes who have excelled on stage in the Middle East and the Gulf countries. Stevan Mendonca and Dinesh Correa spoke on behalf of the felicitated.
The formal stage programme was wound up with Yuva Tarang president Melwyn Pernal proposing vote of thanks to all. Melwyn also compered the stage programme.
The cultural programme thereafter, included a dance from 'Famad Pernal' and "Jibli Jilly", a Konkani drama written by Melwyn Pernal, which was staged by young artistes of Pernal Church.
