Bangalore, Apr 24: An auto driver who voluntarily came forward as the prime witness to help catch the accused in the recent bomb blast near BJP office at Malleshwaram here, has reportedly declined from accepting the Rs 5 lac prize money.
As per the information obtained, on the day of the blast, the auto driver had seen four people who had parked their bike near the BJP office, with a bomb planted on it, and even on the previous day the driver had seen the same people having a conversation at the same place on several phones.
After the bomb blast incident, the driver voluntarily approached the police commissioner to give his eyewitness account and revealed the details of the four persons he had seen.
Taking serious note of his statement, the commissioner along with other officials examined the footage in the CCTV camera installed nearby. Later the Bangalore police and Tamil Nadu intelligence officers were successful in arresting the accused from Tamil Nadu.
Among the three arrested, two were held from Chennai and another from Madurai in a late night operation on Monday April 22.
After the arrest, the auto driver confirmed that he had seen the same people planting bomb near the BJP office.
For his brave gesture, the government announced a prize money of Rs 5 lac but the big-hearted auto driver refused and instead asked the officials to utilize the money for the treatment of people injured in the blast.
