Mangalore, Apr 19: A padayatra by the Congress, headed by Janardhan Poojary and other leaders, was held from Morgans Gate to Kankanady on Thursday April 18 in view of the upcoming elections.
The march was flagged off at Morgan'ss Gate and moved towards Kankanady via Jeppu market, Marnamikatta, Nandigudde, and Valencia.
Addressing the media on this occasion, Poojary said that Lobo is highly experienced especially with regard to administration and the public will surely bless him.
“The five years of administration by the state BJP is the worst of all. Land mafia, corruption, rape, and minority discrimination were on full swing over this period and people are fed up of these anti-social elements," he said.
"The people of Mangalore have given the best result in the recent MCC elections and this time in the MLA elections too they will opt for better change. We will stick to the agendas put forth to the people in the MCC elections and it will be much easier to fulfill those if Congress comes to power in the state and at the centre. There will be no tax hike,” added Poojary.
He also addressed the general public at a few places like Jeppu Market and Nandigudde.
Candidate J R Lobo, leaders Ivan D’Souza, Dennis D’Silva, T K Sudhir, Harikrishna Bantwal, Shashiraj Ambat, Ashith Periera, Coporators Praveen Chandra Alva, Asha Gretta D’Silva, Jancintha Alfred and many other party workers, well-wishers and supporters were also present.
