The development comes in the wake of the recent move of State Party President H D Kumaraswamy suspending the party’s district minorities cell Chief D M Aslam and District General Secretary Shashiraj Shetty for allegedly involving in anti-party activities.
It may be recalled that both Nagaraj Shetty and M G Hegde had recently condemned the suspension and had urged the party leadership to revoke the same.

He said that internal conflict in the party had existed for long but they were keeping patient, but now things had come to a boil, hence they decided to quit. Expressing his support to Aslam and Shashiraj, he said that leaders like M B Sadashiv, Mohammed Kunhi and Amarnath Shetty were not allowing others to grow.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, Nagaraj Shetty said “the local leaders are not accepting us and are not allowing the JD(S) to grow under our leadership. As a result, all those who had toiled hard during the elections are being sidelined. JD(S) President H D Kumaraswamy is gem of a person. I do not want him to face awkward situation in Dakshina Kannada. So, I have decided to tender resignation.”
“I have not made my mind to join any other political party. I have been getting invitation from the KJP, BSR Congress, BJP and the Congress. I wanted to be in one political party till my death. I am fed up with the politics,” he said. On the other hand, M G Hegde too has confirmed his resignation.
