Surprise showers in twin districts bring relief from scorching heat

Mangalore/Udupi, Feb 16: Unexpected rainfall over the last two days in the coastal region has brought some relief from the scorching heat to people of Mangalore and Udupi.
Several areas in Mangalore city including Pumpwell, Kankanady and Konchady received good rainfall after Thursday February 14 midnight. Villages in Puttur taluk also received first rains. Moodbidri received light rainfall; Sullia received good rainfall on Friday morning. A few areas in the taluk experienced rain on Thursday night. Ullal and Suratkal witnessed drizzles, followed by cloudy day.
Skies remained cloudy in Bantwal and Kinnigoli. Bantwal received medium rainfall on Thursday, while BC road received good rainfall. While Subramanya and Kulkunda experienced light rainfall and thunder, Yenekallu, Guttigari were drenched. Beltangady witnessed rain on Thursday night, while clouds covered the day. Gurupur received rainfall in the morning.
In Udupi, Kokkarne, Kenjur, Muddur, Santekatte, Aavarse, Goliyangadi, Mandaarthi received good rain on Friday noon, while several other areas received moderate rains. Over the last few days, the area has been covered with cloudy skies with significant changes in temperature.
