Mangalore, Jan 13: SKSSF (Samastha Kerala Sunni Students Federation) held a harmony meet at the Sahodaya Convention hall on Saturday January 12.
H S Usman Hajji, president of district Wakf board, in his inaugural address said, "From the past four years, our Ulema has supported to form the ‘human chain’ and to observe peace in the society. Islam is the religion of peace. In the Quran, there is description about peace. Islam loves people of other religion and upholds brotherhood. Muslim community should be educated and should come forward to lead a prosperous and peaceful life."
A Sirajjudin Faiz presented a paper on ‘Harmony is the oath to protect nationality’ and said that there is unity in diversity in India. "We find different cultures, sects, ethnic groups and religion in this country. It is our duty to uphold secularism in the country. We should curtail terrorism and corruption which is a real bane to our democracy. As Muslims we are proud and we will respect this nation. Secular principle should shine. All fanaticism and terrorism should be curbed", he added.
Abhas Dharimi, district president of SKSSF, Salim Handellu, Abdul Reham Tumbe, P B Harish Rai, Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists Association, M G Hegde, JD(S) leader, Abdul Majid Suralpady and Immanuel Baskar were present on the occasion.
Abdul Reham Tumbe welcomed the gathering.
A mass rally and human chain will be formed in Sullia on January 26.
